Vision Statement

WCCJ envisions a community in which:

  • citizens are protected from criminal behavior
  • defendants are swiftly adjudicated
  • offenders are given the opportunity for positive change through a program of counseling, community service and restitution to victims
  • those persons involved in the criminal justice system (such as defendants, witnesses and victims) are treated with equality, dignity and respect
  • there is a commitment to eliminate the underlying societal causes of criminal behavior
  • community members understand and support alternative solutions to incarceration
  • the consequences of criminal actions are accountability, rather than suffering, and transformation through healing and learning, rather than perpetuation of the cycle of violence and vengeance.

Mission Statement

WCCJ works to create a community that embraces the principles of restorative justice. Our programs promote sentencing alternatives that require offenders to take responsibility for their actions, including victim and community restitution; provide access to treatment to deter future criminal behavior; and expand community involvement in the criminal justice system.
